Fishing tools and the ability to efficiently operate them in a well intervention scenario is as much as art as it is a science. Some people just "get it," while others tend to struggle with the visualization of what is taking place downhole, combining that with experience, and coming up with a solution to remedy the situation. Because of this, we train fishing tool supervisors in our fishing tool schools to utilize the knowledge base on the location (gauges, indicators, etc.), as well as tapping into the experience of other more experienced fishing tool supervisors to create a recipe for success with everyone we train.
At FTI, we use our fishing tool school and training to not only mold a solid downhole supervisor, but to also help ensure job placement as well. All of our Fishing Tool Supervisors become "FTI Certified." FTI Certified means that each operator has the proper knowledge and skill level to start training in the field under another operator, at minimum. Experienced supervisors can join the class to become FTI Certified as well, just to let customers know they have a level of competency that has been tested and proven against high standards.
